I want to put the great into Britain,
But what makes a nation great?
What kind of country shall we create?
I’m fed up with this greed and division,
What happens next is your decision.
It’s right to be angry, we are oppressed.
Don’t let it be misplaced, or get depressed.
Wise up to national propaganda press.
Read a history text, we’ve seen this mess.
Open your eyes and see what’s next.
The rich get richer, and they’ll want more.
Government makes its ‘tough decision’.
The hammer comes down hardest on the poor.
Find who to blame, start an inquisition.
It won’t be them under suspicion.
Direct your anger, direct your derision.
Blame the boats, fear the asylum seeker.
Listen to the lies on the loudspeaker.
It’s never them, only those that are weaker.
The future is ours to make, make no mistake.
Look outside and see, we’ve made many.
Maybe we need wiping out, we’re not ready.
Your neighbour is not your fucking enemy.
So what if they look or sound different?
We’re all human, they’re your equivalent.
It ain’t the poor or powerless at my door.
It’s the bailiffs banging for the banks.
It’s your greedy boss who pays you scraps.
I don’t want another pizza, I need a raise,
Trapped in the rat race, a capitalist maze.
But where you see difference, I see beauty.
Forget about being a billionaire’s groupie.
We should celebrate all that is good,
Spread joy, and let’s live in peace.
Aren’t we all the same under the hood?
Ask why we are feeding fear and hate.
Your boss ain’t your mate, your neighbour is.
We’re all working class, even your kids.
They’ll end up last, mayday, mayday!
HMS Britannia is sinking under greed.
Shouldn’t we help those most in need?
But listen, it don’t have to be this way.
We can make a fairer and better world.
It’s time to fight, seize the fucking day.
It starts in your mind, a new nation to find.
Feel your humanity, rights are enshrined.
Stand shoulder to shoulder, and be kind.
